Anglian Home Improvements sort yourself out!!!

There blinking at it again, how do the customers know which is the right price????

I’ve just been blown out of the water by an Anglian price, get this a 3.5 x 3.5 connie for eight thousand five hundred pounds!!! You may say, so they beat you fair and square, not so, I took a deal off them a few weeks back similar size connie they were 12k now where is it.

I appreciate your fitters around Wales are having a rough time, but if you keep selling things out for no money your going to be out of business again ( sorry cheap shot you’ve not been out of business yet) and the banks wont be able to bail you out this time.

I feel sorry for the poor customers out there who are actually paying 12k for one from you, do you have a pricing policy??? It just seems to be get it for what you can at the moment , a few suggestions, use a price book which:

  1. Keeps you solvent
  2. Pays your salesmen
  3. Doesn’t increase when the surveyor gets there
  4. And finally doesn’t de-value your product.

When you send out this mixed message it makes it feel like you have no faith in your product being worth what you are asking for it…

Get it sorted you’ve got alot of people who’s jobs you have to pay for, if you keep giving it away then you’re giving away their futures. To any customers thinking of buying from Anglian, wait for the 3rd phonecall, then if you want to buy from them they’ll of reached their bare minimum, just make sure to ask what frame you are getting, and if you’re happy, make them sign on the contract that this price will not go up on survey (this is VERY IMPORTANT).

  1. Maybe they forgot to price for the baseworks. We had a welshman working for us once who always forgot to price the building work up :-)

  2. Very good, yeah I did notice that on NBS. No there just sods at the moment giving it away.. but there we go next week it’ll be a different price.

    Hi DGG

All connies are different – I thought you would have known that it all comes down to the customers requirements? Just beacuse two connies are the same size, it certainly doesn’t mean they’re going to be the same price. It’s all down to features/options/range etc. Anglian has several different conservatory ranges to choose from so it’s unfair to assume you are comparing like for like.

I don’t believe discounts de-value a product. If I bought a BMW with a 20% discount – I wouldn’t think the car had decreased in quality – I would just be pleased with having bagged such a bargain! And in a tough market, I think any consumer would see a discount as a blessing at the moment!

And, sorry to dissapoint but I can assure you that Anglian would not buy business below cost – not only do they not allow it to happen, but it would make no business sense whatsoever. We only have to look at Zenith to see what happens when you try to do this.

As for being bailed out by a bank – this is simply not the case. They were re-financed by the banks (who in effect removed a proportion of debt for shares to back Anglian) but there was not “bailing out” necessary it was quite simply done to allow for even greater growth. And it just goes to show the faith the banks have in Anglian’s position within the market – after all. nobody backs a three-legged horse in the kentucky derby.

RGC – fancy seeing you here. :)

  4. I agree with what you are saying all conservatories are different but I’ve priced both conservatories against Anglian and both of them on my costing were around a similar price, whilst I appreciate no one would give it away, however and I’m sure you are aware Tarquin there is very little cost difference buying in different qualities of PVC and certainly not 4ks worth.

Most people know that an Anglian price book has a discount built into it and that there is a set amount that you can take off in the house, I owuld say this is not a genuine offer. The ther fact is that when a salesman leaves the house the price is dropped further by their Sales Manager and will get at least another two calls before bottoming out, I know this is fact. My guys go in on one price and that is the best price possible, that price as I’ve said before is arrived at by calculations of the mark up I need to make money to stay in business. There is no such thing as a discount in double glazing, You know it and I know it!

With reference to the banks bailing out Anglian, well I think what I think and the story that was run mt by me but by the news papers was thay took 90million (part of the debt) for a share in Anglian. If Anglian were that healthy and doing so well why would they need to lay off workers?

The current climate is effecting everyone and I would just like to see Anglian run a price book and sell to that price at least the salesguys would know where they were, and not driving around getting the commision swept from under them.
