Double Glazing Discounts????

Well what to say it’s difficult for a person who owns a double glazing company to say the following but it’s relevant and it’s true so I’ll just say it.

There’s no such thing as a discount in the double glazing industry flower it up as you like there are NO DISCOUNTS. Each company who calls to see you has a price they need to sell that product for and alot of the time the sale price is derived from the size of company, the bigger the company the higher the overheads the more they have to charge, it’s just how business works. Even I have to offer a “DISCOUNT” to get my phone ringing… but my discount is based on a price I have to sell my product for…. so is it a genuine discount? Well I’ll have to leave you to decide that.. anyway on with my point….

So, we all have a price that we need to stick too, NO 40% showhome offers, NO 30% off conservatories and a free glass roof, NO buy one get one free.

Everything has been added into the price somewhere, it’s just we love to think we are getting something . It’s called “what’s in it for me” we believe we are getting a good price and the products are being sold for what they need to sell them for.

The problem that alot of companies are having at the moment, is to do with average order values, they’ve been literally GIVING there product away customers are feeling the pinch and instead of companies sticking to their guns and charging what they should do they are selling for less than they should be, this is creating an environment where cowboys thrive, consequently it has had a massive knock on effect, and alot of good companies aren’t making money, if they have a good Brand it should allow them to sell for more money than the average size company, but there is a line between selling for a reasonable price which is suitable for both parties.

The need for customers as well as companies to be fair with the amount to be paid for double glazing I feel has finally arrived. There are problems on both sides really legitimate companies are expected to compete on costings sometimes with fly by nighters (cowboys) who are taking cash in the hand and only want to make enough to get to the pub.

I believe price should be a main factor but also what exactly are you getting for your money, are you getting a company that’s going to give you a good after sales service (this costs money to provide this service so it’s going to add to the cost a bit) are you going to get a company that employs specialists in their relevant fields (surveyors, fitters etc this will cost extra) and are you going to go to a company that wants to be in business in ten years time (this again will cost extra).

I think also its about customers being honest with themselves what do they want a cheap price, or a good product the two don’t go hand in hand in my opinion but as I’ve said before there are No discounts anymore No Recommended Retail Price for our products there is just an accountant who says for you to make money you have to fit this much work at that much Margin and that’s it, the simple truth. NO DISCOUNTS so don’t ever be lead by that 40% off sign ask the companies to provide references and to see completed installations then make a decision but don’t let price be the only factor .. REMEMBER you only want to change your windows once and you want your ideal conservatory, and REMEMBER as soon as their van drives away from your house the money’s gone from your bank and what has been done is what you’ve got…

You’ve taken ages to earn your money so don’t just give it away to a cheap price lookclosely to see what you’re getting…
